Based in Boulder, Colorado, OIA provides trade services to over 1,200 manufacturers, distributors, suppliers, retailers and more than 60 related niche associations. OIA members include a who’s who of recognized domestic and global active outdoor lifestyle brands such as Adidas, Arcteryx, Black Diamond, Cabela’s, Coleman, Columbia Sportswear, Confluence Watersports, Deckers, Deuter, Eastern Mountain Sports, Johnson Outdoors, K2, L.L. Bean, Marmot, Mountain Hardwear, Mountain Equipment Co-op, Merrell, Patagonia, Polartec, Redington, Sage, Salomon, Simms, Smith, Suunto, REI, Timberland, The North Face, Thule, Vibram, W.L. Gore, and many others.

In 2000, Frank moved into the role of association CEO after serving as an industry-elected board member. With Frank at the helm, the organization transitioned to a formal trade association structure and rebranded as Outdoor Industry Association, formed the Outdoor Foundation, established international trade programs, generated hundreds of millions of federal investment of federal investment in U.S. recreation infrastructure, led the development of the Eco Index and published an extensive collection of market research including the first ever report on the active outdoor recreation economy. Under his 11-year leadership, OIA has emerged as the world’s foremost outdoor sports trade group and is now widely recognized as an authority on outdoor industry supply chain, sustainability, retail sales, consumer trends and related public policy.

Prior to OIA, Frank directed the North American division of Lowe Alpine Holdings and managed global sales and marketing for Bodyguard Fitness, a subsidiary of AB Aritmos. He began his industry career in retail at Paragon Sports in New York City. In addition to serving on advisory boards for the Outdoor Foundation, National Coalition for Promoting Physical Activity and The National Forum on Children and Nature, Frank has testified before the United States Congress; advised senior administration officials for U.S. President’s George W. Bush and Barack Obama; and led the annual meetings between C-level industry executives with members of Congress and The White House.

Outside, you will find Frank trekking, camping, mountaineering, paddling, fly-fishing and telemark skiing in the world’s iconic mountains, rivers, and wilderness areas.
